We have been educating children for over 33 years. Our goal is to create a place that engages each child.

By learning through different experiences, children develop interests and construct their own identities and understandings of the world.

At St Morris Community Child Care Centre, our program is guided by the National Quality Standards, which includes the Early Years Learning Framework of Belonging, Being and Becoming. The aim of this Framework is to extend and enrich children’s learning from birth to five years and through the transition to school.

The three guiding principles are outlined briefly below:

Belonging is knowing where and with whom you belong. Children belong to a family, a cultural group, a neighbourhood and to the wider community. Children develop relationships within each of these groups, and these relationships are central to being and belonging.

Being is the here and now in a child’s life. Early childhood is the time for a child to engage with life’s joys, complexities and meeting challenges. Happy early years and a nurturing environment helps a child understand the present and prepare for the future.

Becoming is the change during childhood of a child’s identity, knowledge, understanding, capacities, skills and relationships. A safe and caring environment is critical in allowing a child to participate in society as an individual.
